Do I need a CPA to file my tax returns?
phiteco2000 asked:
I have a salary job making $55,000 and this is my first full-time position. Do I need to hire a CPA? What’s the best and cheapest way to file my taxes? Any help is appreciated!

If you don’t have a complicated return (which yours isn’t), just use the free software available at
No need to hire a tax professional unless you have complex investments, real estate property, etc.

If you don’t have any deductions…DO NOT got to a CPA…try. Using a CPA when you don’t need one will cost you more then its worth.

There’s nothing better than doing your own taxes. Over the years it will give you a better understanding of what’s it all about. That will, over time, save you money.
Buy a product like Turbo Tax. Tax Act may even be better for you, it’s half the price of Turbo Tax and will handle a basic return just as well.
good luck!
(next thing to do…… open a ROTH IRA!)
